Accredited In-Service and Community Awareness Seminars

Nationally recognized child safety expert Ken Wooden has conducted this highly acclaimed pair of seminars in hundreds of communities across the country. As part of their community outreach efforts, school districts, hospitals, Junior Leagues and Auxiliaries, law enforcement agencies, military bases, and corporations provide this gift of protection to their communities.

The Child Lures Prevention In-Service Training Seminar:
  • Examines the history and national trends of crimes against children and youth
  • Provides an overview of dated misinformation, i.e., Stranger-Danger, the Buddy System, code words
  • Explores interrelationships between issues affecting young people, including sexual exploitation, substance abuse, school failure/dropout, depression, suicide, teen pregnancy, bullying, and school violence
  • Reveals Wooden's original findings on the most common lures used by sexual predators, as taught in the Child Lures School Program
  • Provides proven Child Lures Prevention strategies to help ensure the safety and well-being of youngsters.
  • Demonstrates how to effectively teach the Child Lures School Program
  • Unites educators, police and other community leaders in their efforts to safeguard children
  • Looks at the legal liability of public institutions arising from child sexual abuse
  • Leaves attendees educated, prepared and optimistic
The In-Service Training Seminar has been awarded accreditation approval from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Osteopathic Association, the Oklahoma State Department of Health and the University of Alaska, as well as numerous other local, county and state professional organizations.

In-Service Training is often coordinated with district-wide adoption of the Child Lures School Program and/or county-wide adoption of the Child Lures Community Plan.

The Child Lures Prevention Community Awareness & Prevention Seminar is a less intensive presentation with emphasis on providing parents with personal safety strategies they can teach their children. Praised for his positive approach, Wooden urges attendees to keep things in perspective, stressing that crimes against children are largely preventable.

Mr. Wooden typically presents the 1 1/2 hour Community Awareness & Prevention Seminar one evening, followed by his two hour In-Service Training Seminar for professionals the following morning. Parents and the community-at-large are invited to attend the Community Awareness & Prevention Seminar. Educators, law enforcement, social services, medical and mental health personnel attend the In-Service Seminar.

In a recent poll, 98% of parents and community leaders wanted to learn more about protecting children from sexual crimes. For information on how to sponsor the Child Lures Prevention Seminars in your community, please contact Jennifer Mitchell at (802) 985-8458 or via e-mail.
