APRIL, 2005: Child Lures Prevention is proud to celebrate its 20th Anniversary of protecting
children through education and awareness!
In 1983, April was designated as National Child Abuse Prevention Month by Presidential Proclamation.
Since that time, individuals and organizations have dedicated the month of April to raising public awareness about child abuse and its prevention. It is a time when communities come together to celebrate families. It is a time when organizations acknowledge the importance of children and their safety in their communities. It is a time when houses of worship reaffirm their commitment to children and families. And it is a time when concerned citizens in every state throughout the country devote their time and creative energy to reach entire communities with the message, "Child Abuse Can and Must be Prevented!"

Archdiocese of San Antonio
The Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas began implementation of the Child Lures School Program kit in
every parish, school and mission on June 9th, 2004 under the excellent direction of Judy Perillo, MA,
SWA, Coordinator, Office of Victim Assistance and Safe Environment.
By December, 2004, approximately 107,200 children throughout the Archdiocese of San Antonio will have been exposed to Child Lures Prevention. Praise to Judy Perillo and the proactive Archdiocese of San Antonio!
On Child Lures Prevention Safe Environment Program:
Ms. Perillo writes: "The Child Lures School Program is a cost effective model that can be used for many years and complies with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. The 'Code of Conduct' for children and curricula for parents, children, and adolescents enables the entire school or parish to be educated in prevention and safe environment with one flexible program. The Child Lures Prevention approach enables children to recognize behaviors that can place them at risk, rather than vague ideas about strangers, or to rely totally on feelings which may vary from child to child.
Thank you for creating teacher, parent, and child-friendly materials that keep children safe and adults actively present in children's lives."

Child Lures School Program Saves Lives!
Hats off to The Junior Auxiliary of Harrison, Arkansas! They have taught the Child Lures School Program to Harrison’s 3rd and 7th graders for the past 5 years, and will present to over 250 3rd graders during the upcoming spring months.
"THANK YOU for the work that has been done to put the word out. Harrison police have informed us of several instances
where a child has used what he or she learned from our Child Lures Prevention presentations to prevent almost certain
abduction, and in one of the cases, the perpetrator was arrested. If it hadn't been for your school program, this
child may very well have been yet another statistic. We are very committed to teaching the Child Lures School Program."

Proactive Dioceses Implement Child Lures Prevention's Safe Environment Program in their Parochial Schools
The Diocese of Springfield (MA) was one of only two Massachusetts dioceses recently found to be in total compliance with the Bishop’s "Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People," - without any recommendations necessary. Child Lures Prevention assisted the Diocese of Springfield in this significant accomplishment with our safe environment program, the Child Lures Community Plan.
Sister Bette Gould, SSJ, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Springfield has put the Community Plan's Child Lures School Program into each parochial school, a Child Lures Parent Guide into the hands of every parent, and provided Certified In-Service Training by Kenneth Wooden to principals, counselors and support staff.
"Our gratitude is extended to those who prepared the Child Lures Prevention School Program, placing the safety and welfare of our youth as paramount." ~ Sister Bette Gould, SSJ, Superintendent of Schools
